A special wedding, the blue room angels, end of season dregs and glorious rain!

Thunder, glorious rain, the cosmos bobbing wondering what is happening. It is dark and cold this morning and just my cup of tea, I must say. I am a northerner- cold weather freak.

Today is a birthday party for Flora Jane, in their back garden. It is intended to be a disco mermaid theme so we are hoping that the rain ceases by 2:00.

These are her pumpkins growing on the space in-between the walkway and the street. The neighborhood is the nicest in town, I reckon. Little bungalows, built in the 30's,  happy families, gardens in  every available space.
There are several friendly well cared for cats that greet us as we walk home from the coffee shop this one, Flora informed me, got married yesterday...

Flora is interested in "Love, seriously" - She had a wedding of her own when we got home. She was to marry the prince farmer. She had a bridal party in one fancy gown, a dance at the Bridal Ball in another , and the third , her wedding gown. The Prince farmer was not there as he went on vacation to Italy where he has another wife, I was told. But that was OK, he was not needed - the event was splendid. There were multiple trips to the nursedoctor's office , behind the chair, to check the bride's heart , making sure that it was deeply and truly in "serious" love.

Everything was set - we sang operatic tunes throughout the ceremony as the bride did spin and swirl in her white gown with a veil and crown.

(slip and head band)

The announcement was made-

"Presenting the  Married Baseball Princess of the Entire Kingdom!"
(Flora is keen on baseball, has a pretty good arm , announces play by play  like a pro!)

I gave Emmett his farting pig. Pig was invited to the wedding to assist in the entertainment during the  wedding  dinner of popsicles in the back garden.

Flora announced from her tree house,  to the next door neighbor that she was the baseball princess and that she got married.  He expressed joy and congratulations. All was well.

I came home to find that Dennis had purchased a gigantic electric pan from Cost co, so that he could fry bacon on the deck.

$50.00 dollar bacon- family size! The man likes bacon. The man loves gadgets!

It will have to live in the garage when not employed.

I took a picture of the conjoined angle heads - where they now reside in the blue room above the dresser.

The little painting ,peeking out from the tiny drawer of the chest that Stella gave to me, was purchased or traded for  during the ACEO trend a few years ago.  She is my favorite.

Mint , Marjoram and parsley  picked for fragrance, stuck in a vase in the blue room - smells earthy and a bit wild.  FRESH!

It is still raining- doesn't look good for a  disco mermaid garden party...

Fingers crossed!

( tomatoes ripening, delish!- a handful of oregano and mint and nasturtium for the upstairs , a wilting bouquet for the piano. Season's ending...

The little blue creamer is one that Clarrissa made about 30 years ago.

up date on wildlife, deck flowers and crow family

Orca have been abundant this summer. It has been one of the most pleasant summers ever up here. Cool temperatures which every one thrives in. Here is a clip from Instagram of the shore of the bay in our neighborhood.

 https://www.instagram.com/reels/Db8ohXcTnMF/

 This one is even better!

https://www.instagram.com/reels/DcKMcgHvTYF/

The orca have been very close to the shore everywhere up here. Adequate food for them, cool weather Bliss.

Humane society for rehab wildlife called to reassure me that nature is the  best to take care of kit's amputation. Mother raccoons are attentive and will manage to clean the wound and keep the kit safe. They have not been back, though. The humane person said that if they do come back and if I notice that the injured baby is lagging or left behind , to capture it in a clear storage box, ( we have many)  , slide the lid under it as you would do to capture a spider in a jar. with a card .

I will be surprised to see that baby again. Heart breaks...

I have a wolf spider living downstairs. minding its own business, I am pleased to see them in the fall. They take care of business- flies...They are large about 2" in diameter and come in through the bathtub drain. I leave a strip of toilet paper over the edge, a ladder,  so that they can get out of the tub and get on with their lives.

The deck flowers are still producing new blossoms though the annuals are getting leggy and sparse. It is  fragrant  beauty!

Black nightshade berries- edible when they are entirely black and ripe.  They taste like cherry tomatoes only sweeter.

Poppies blooming again from seeds dropped earlier in the summer!
When I am on the deck it feels like an English garden.

This evening Austin , grandson, will arrive and commute to work from here to Whidbey Island, It is a long commute . Not sure how long he will stay here, could be until University starts in  mid September in Seattle. Dennis is sorting out his room upstairs for him. That is the best arrangement as he will have access to the bathroom as well as the kitchen if he has to get out of here early in the morning.

The crow family that has been following Peg, the gull, to the deck all summer , has finally landed. They trust me now and will eat things that I offer, salmon skin is their favorite!  The fawn twins in the yard are still speckled but one has a skin condition and is turning white. No mountain lions this year!

On I go into a beautiful day - Might have to take a ride to the thrift store - Senior Tuesday!  My entertainment for the week!

- THIS from the Bulwark this morning-

What is it we say about bad things happening to bad people?

Meet Brent Jindra, a California tech salesman who voted for Donald Trump three times because of his promises to rid America of immigrants. Last year Brent met Galina Bobreneva, a nice Russian girl. They got married.

In July the couple took a domestic flight from San Francisco to Burbank. When they got off the plane government agents were waiting for Galina. First, they told her she had been selected for a “secondary screening.” Then, after getting her to a back room, she was handcuffed and hustled off to an unmarked vehicle. She spent the night on the floor of a jail cell in Los Angeles and was eventually sent to an internment camp in the Mojave desert.

And now Brent is upset because his wife isn’t that kind of immigrant. “She did not jump a wall, she did not swim a river,” he says.

This story has so many layers that I don’t even know what metaphor to use. It’s like watching a guy at the zoo jumping the fence and running full-speed toward a hot stove inside the leopard enclosure. It’s terrible. It’s karmic. And you can’t take your eyes off of it.

Joe's garden, a massive onion, crowded flowers and a tragedy.

The cucumbers that Dennis planted are  ready all at once! I needed an onion to make cucumber salad. Joe's has the best produce, all of it grown there, organic except for the berries he gets from a farm  out in the county. Winter veg starts are available , peaches are abundant and ripe,  Pear and apple and all of the garden vegetables- plump and fresh from the earth.

I bought a fine  onion.

Dahlias in a bouquet of sunflowers , lobelia, yarrow, zinnea, frosted explosion grass, pink and white statice.

Flowers from the deck as well as flowers from Joe's, looks like  a motel six lobby. I need to spread them out, I think- more is not better. The explosion grass is gorgeous. Next year I may grow a basket full, if weather permits.

Crowded !

I cooked a bit of salmon to have with the cucumber salad , saved the skin for the raccoon family. They came to the deck as usual BUT something terrible has happened to one of the babies!

Surely he will die.  I called Game and wildlife but it is too late in the day. I sent an email with attached photo. I am pretty sure it is a lost cause. Singling out this one baby from family could be impossible, the trauma may damage him further. Damn!

Stop reading NOW if you are  sensitive, it is difficult  to handle  this baby's  terrible injury. Looks like it may have gotten caught in a trap. Life threatening for sure.

Game and Wildlife got back to me but there is nothing they can do other than tell me to let nature take its course. (shit) I called the wildlife rehabilitation center as well but they are closed. They may get back to me someday. Since they are mostly volunteer it is not likely.

Looking autumnal, from my windshield on the way home from Joes.

Sorry to leave on such a bummer note.

Here is a tea tin that sings "tea for two" -  found in the thrift shop- that should cheers us up, plus 100 yards of red satin ribbon .

Smoke, dead alive again, Lord and personal saviour. The orphans

Smokey air, the room air filters are on full blast,  and I have a headache. The light is weird.
The orphans got a visitor today, a knock on the door. A woman with a bibble  asking if anyone was interested in the word of the lord. ( the orphans got new wigs from the thrift store and wanted to try them in a play, this was the play)

There was  talk about miracles and how the lord was a magic man and how he was handsome  as Barry Gibb. Intrigued, the answerer of the  door invited the bibble person in.

"Show me the guy"

-"Ok, here is a photo-

PROOF!!

"Well, I want to see magic before I accept Barry as my personal savior", said the answerer of the door.

"I found a dead bug in my kitchen today , can he make it alive and make it fly away?"

Here is the bug-

without hesitation Barry showed up and voila- a miracle indeed. The dead  did rise. Barry singing "Stayin' alive" of course. Magic!

That cinched the deal. The answerer of the door and the bibble girl and Barry decided that ( with their new wigs) they could form a county western trio and go on tour; Performing miracles along the way. Barrry doing the heavy lifting because he is the star of the show- the tour wil be  called-

And it will be HUGE!

The end-

Google tells us that this is a bot fly. That is kind of creepy because botfly larvae are about the nastiest invention. Could have come from the deer? Could have come from the rabbits?

That was all of the excitement for this smoky  shite day.

In my dream last night I had to use the toilet and couldn't find one, finally found a stand up toilet but forgot that I don't have a penis, besides the toilet paper was polyester so I passed on that.  I waited until morning when I woke up , used the awake world toilet . Whew!

The orphans got tired of their new country wigs . Tomorrow they want to be bald and do a play about bowling ;  A sort of documentary, they claim.  They also want to incorporate dying  because they are so good at it. Sometimes I can't even tell if they are alive or dead. THAT is some mighty good acting! They are skilled.

Praise him!!!

all about fabric, sew there

Ragfinery is brilliant. Their new location ,after the fire destroyed everything , is more convenient to get to and to park (illegally) It is much smaller, condensed but there are tubs of material organized against the walls and a big table in the middle of scraps, $1.80 a pound. What you see above weighed less than a pound so - bargain of the century.

In the "weaving supply" bin I found this ; a bundle of sheep locks already dyed. For needle felters this is GOLD!  Costly to buy usually , this bundle was .25 cents.
I bought three spools of thread on wooden spools for 10 cents, the lot!

During WW2 wooden spools of thread were used to send messages to  military behind enemy lines. The hole in the spool is perfect for messages rolled up , covered over with the label. I may use them for that purpose, secret messages.

Turned out to be a fabric day -30% off  for seniors at the thrift store. This yardage intrigues me. Dyed resembling Mulberry paper ; like watercolor- 2.5 yards of cotton. The texture is interesting, the dye penetrates through in a non pattern pattern.

$2.50

Isn't it curious? The cotton is soft- lava lampish motion.  I wonder how this was made. Any ideas? It's not tie dye nor is it Nuno.

Score of the day in my opinion has to be this 6.5 yards of Indian iridescent Blue/violet, silk. In perfect nick! It is the prettiest periwinkle color. I may make a curtain for the blue bedroom; I may stash it like all of my other possible projects.
Again, dirt cheap price of $ 4.50
And there was more luck-
I always comb through the t-towel section, generally find T-towel gold.
This one is vintage  from Scotland- feels like barkcloth, that density and texture but woven and printed. Clearly never been used or hung on a nail. I may cut the bits of graphics and use them in art of some sort. I may leave it as is and put it in a poster frame.
 $1.99

Among  the T-towels I found this embroidered Shipibo  cloth , from Peruvian  Amazon rainforest  tribe. Soft enough to be mistaken for a T-towel , every stitch done by a woman's hand. Glad the mistake was made- the price was typical T-towel price of $1.50

Healing ,using Ayahuasca  among other plants of the amazon jungle, these embroidered cloths are used on ceremonial altars . Thank you thrift store , for not knowing what you have.

I bought another length of mystery fabric but it does not photograph well. It is extraordinary  and made into a shawl/scarf thing. Some days feed my fabric addiction, I must say!

I bought little else except for some contemporary  tin cherubs with  bells, on a beaded wire. I will  dismantle them -rust them up probably , and use them in cigar boxes. The beads are glass. If the world blows up and sends us underground I will have plenty to do to keep from going insane...more insane, I mean.

Oh, nearly forgot, In the wool bin which is $2.00 a pound I found a deep rich  blue cashmere sweater from Scotland- it weighed nothing so damned near free... it also has a few tiny moth holes in it but that is do-able. I just have to find the right color of wool thread for mending it. It is beautiful!

Ragfinery is the best invention ever! So glad that they did not have to close entirely and found a new home. Better than a weed shop, a better addiction, I reckon.
