50 years, people!

We walked from the porch down through the neighbors yard, through the neighborhood down to the bay. Sunny day, cold but beautiful.

Old college Friends that have not seen one another for 50 years, taking up right where we left off pretty much though 50 years is crammed with a good bit of living, adventures, children, deaths, surgeries gone wrong, learning  skills, making a living,  and loads of  "what was I thinking" moments- you know, LIFE. How are we still alive we wonder... how amazing that we are together in this photo by the bay! Still breathing and well!
So much talking/walking /talking. Lunch and lots of water, walking back through other peoples gardens...and talking...talking , talking.

Home now, all is quiet. Mary driving back to Seattle, Trudy driving back to iron street.

Tulip petals falling , looking like shells on fire.  Time to collect some more and stick them in jars because this is spring, folks, last chance for tulips.

Great day of amazing re discovery, old friends. Being glad to have lived this long, making a pact with one another about "death with dignity" and - no homes for me- sort of deal. Easy to say....when it really comes down to it , the will to carry on is mighty , we may hang on by fingernails, stubbornly sticking around  past our due date...we do not know but we did have this conversation, all in agreement- pinky swore to help the other.  What are friends for if not to slip you a lethal dose of whatever to ease you into the cosmos as more  glittery stardust? Yep ,  that's the plan. In the meantime we will get together more often now that we have found US. Damned cool if you ask me!

    1. Pretty remarkable to find such old dear friends who still have their memories in tact and their perceptions of when we were young and feral!

  2. What a wonderful gathering of old friends, and I love the plan you made. That's truly what friends of the heart are for. What a beautiful day you had there.

  3. It's great you all got together and you're doing so well. Everybody looks happy. To paraphrase Stephen King, you never have friends again like the ones you make when you're young.

    1. Especially great considering that my entire family from my growing up are gone, six feet under and ashes in jars...These friends are a connection to the lost years, makes our friendship especially special! We cheated death!

  4. It is really cool that you've found each other, that you still have your marbles, and like each other. All of my friends from the early era have vanished. Both my fault and theirs, I do miss them, but they're lost to me. Stephen King was right.
