random holiday phone photos

Dennis wearing this  T-shirt, man stops to ask him what a "Strawberry Santa" is, because the man did not read it correctly, obviously.

Waiting for our flight having gone through TSA already, TSA targeted Dennis. Brought over their big machines and agents to check him out again, suspicious. Maybe because of his many devices and gadgets? Anyway , they gave him this card to present to  check in before boarding.  Found it in his pocket after we had landed so I guess the "you may pass" ticket was not necessary, some one dropped the ball.

When we arrived we headed down to the deli for an expensive sandwich- a parrot, seated two tables from us with his humans, said "I bite".

Found a camel in the desert-
found a spent magnolia petal looking  sinister-

A sign  guy walking - and a little dog seated at the table with his humans, next to our table at Lulu's . Palm Springs animal friendly- pets are welcome to inside dining - like everywhere ought to be- like civil France where it is not unusual to have your dog seated at the table.
Weird nativity folks  at the
Angel charity shop.

Busker playing I -don't -know -what, enthusiastically.

Enormous wooden smile- a bit like Rocky Horror except from the year 1940 something.

Dennis at the flight museum reading about the plane he flew in when he was 19. He rode in the nose, looking down over the world. He became a pilot in the navy, loved it- then became a dentist and shared a little Cessna with a couple of other guys.

Our first date was  flying over to the islands to have dinner.  He can not pilot anymore- he yearns.

A lone pink cloud at twilight over San Jacinto mountains.

Glad we dried out for a few days in the heat and wind- it has been raining here for over 30 days straight, every single day,  and  it  is cold. We have only been back for five days and already I am waterlogged, wearing layers and wool shoes. Mid May!

This is the car that carried the people that ruined everything!

Cute license plate though.

  1. That weird instrument had me going to google, the nearest looking thing was something called a Sarangi, but this is still different, maybe it is a simplified version.
The pink cloud looks like a UFO trying to hide itself. I love the parrot.

  2. "Strawberry Santa" -- LOL! I believe that cloud is called "lenticular." That mouth IS very Rocky Horror -- it could belong to Tim Curry!

  3. Whew, I've been catching up on your desert adventures. Sorry you had to put up with idiots during your getaway, but they're everywhere, it seems. An emoji note from TSA 🙂
I love the photos and the backstories! Are all of your blog photos from a phone camera? If so, way better than my phone camera.
    I strawberry Santa science too.

  4. Why in the world would the TSA target Dennis? How odd.
The nativity people appear to be LGBTQ friendly to me. The cloud looks like a UFO, does it not? The busker- well- he's got his act DOWN! Was his music any good? Did it matter? You have an amazing eye.

    1. TSA said it was a random check but I am not sure- I look way more suspicious than Dennis ! I think you are right, Gay nativity folks.Yes his music was pretty great- good enough for Dennis to put a fiver in the bucket.

  5. Interesting collection of photos. My brother shared a little plane with two other guys. He flew it down here once and gave us all rides. And some people ruined everything?

    1. Dennis spent a lot of time flying, the other owners not so much. The hanger fee was the clincher- very pricey. He sold the plane and has been sorry ever since.

  6. Love seeing these photos and reading about each one. What a nice view of your vacation. Oh the weather has been such a bummer here too. The weather report says in we're in for ten days of sunshine starting tomorrow. We'll see about that. I hope you get some sunshine there.
