rain stopped for a minute

House finch on the feeder. The birds have forgotten our diner, Peg has not been around since we got back nor have the raccoons. We let them down for fourteen days , the party is over. They have given up on us for now.

Doe lounged in the yard when the rain stopped for about two hours. She is so pretty, her eye lashes are impressive are they not?
Dog wood- on the corner.

the rhodies are beaten down by the rain, most of them are on the ground, petals looking like used Kleenex. BUT look at the fern, totally loving the rain , it has never looked quite this good!

Just getting our bearings, it takes a while after having been gone. Dennis is having an MRI in the morning, heart stuff. And I am  Daniel Lambert- nothing edible is safe!  BOOMPH! I just ate an entire loaf, warm and buttered.

pink petal carpet and blue babies under the mail box. Grey is gone!

  1. A whole loaf? You're as bad as me. I've been eating brownies, had to force myself to put half the batch in the freezer.
I like your pink carpet, my small patch has an autumn leaf carpet, I've been sweeping up leaves form the paths and dumping them there as mulch.
Hope the MRI goes well and doesn't show anything sinister.

    1. The MRI will map out arteries and pipes and globs to make sure that the heart is OK . He will be fine ,he just has to hold still for seventy minutes. Trying to trick yourself by putting brownies in the freezer- I have done that but discovered that they are even more fun to eat frozen! I am hopeless....

  2. Your animals will be back. You have the best kind of pets- the kind that can take care of themselves for a week or so. May all be well with Dennis. That deer has eyelashes like August.

    1. It is good to be able to love animals that take care of themselves and that come around even though there is nothing for them. I do miss not having a dog and three cats and a bird or two but I am too old for all of that activity!
      August lashes for sure!

    1. He was the fattest man and well loved by the community- before being obese became a judgement issue...The sunny day did not last very long!

  5. You are clearly out of the desert now - such foliage! And your doe, she seems to be impressively posing for your camera. I wonder, will Peg and the 'coons return?
Today, I learned about Daniel Lambert. Thank you.

    1. It definitely is moist here! Better than crispy dusty allergenic dessert but the sun was nice -To be warm all the way through is such a pleasure! The raccoons are busy having babies at the moment so maybe they will show up when the babies are able. I hope so , there is nothing cuter!!

  9. Beautiful tree and I love the deer! My co-worker (who was looking over my shoulder as I read your post) said your deer photos are amazing -- and they are.

    1. The deer are so docile. There are many that are injured from the road, some have legs dangling. Wildlife agents have too much work to do so the deer suffer and die. The ones that come to our yard are well protected.
